Our boardgame café
In the very place where film history was once made, we’ve opened a new board game café. The old Uto Cinema has become a place for games. Our game sommeliers will explain our games to you. You can play, relax and enjoy a delicious drink or snack whilst you’re at it. We look forward to spending time with you at the games table.

Coffee, croissants and lunch to go – served straight from our window overlooking the street. By the way, we use our DuBischDra blend for the coffee – roasted especially for us in Lucerne.

How to book an event
Birthdays, team events, hen parties – for groups of more than 8 people, we’ll organise the whole evening for you. Reserved tables, hand-picked games and a selection of food and drink to suit.
Our events manager, Femke, will look after you personally. If there are more than 8 of you, please send her a message stating the group size and your requirements. She’ll organise the perfect event for you.
Over 1,500 games line our walls — so how do you know where to start? Every single box carries a small coloured dot that tells you, at a glance, how much help you can expect from our team.
Just look for the colour, wave down a game sommelier, and we'll take it from there.

This game is simple enough that anyone can learn it in just a few minutes once they’ve learnt the rules. If one of our sommeliers is free, we’d be happy to explain it to you.
Pause a moment
Do you play games often? Then go for it! Are you new to the hobby? Then we recommend asking one of our Sommelières. Not everyone is familiar with this game, though.
Whoa there, friend
You’re on your own with this game. It’s too long and too complicated for us to explain to you. Our sommeliers may be able to answer specific questions, IF they know the game.

FAQ
How do I get to the café?
Our café is located on Kalkbreitestrasse 3 in Zürich. Bus number 32 stops right outside our door (Kalkbreite / Bhf. Wiedikon stop). The same applies to various tram lines. We’re only about a 5-minute walk from Wiedikon station.
Please use the public transport or your bike to get here. There’s no on-site car park.
When can I play?
We’re open from Tuesday to Sunday. You can play from 2 pm (weekdays) or from 10 am (weekends) until closing time. At the weekend, we recommend you book your table in advance.
Do I have to pay entry even if I don't play a game?
Yes. We run the board game café as a place for people to get together and create shared memories offline. We charge a flat fee to cover our facilities, the games and the recommendations from our staff. You can stay as long as you like and pay less for an evening’s entertainment than a cinema ticket.
Do I have to reserve a table?
No. But at the weekend, we’d recommend you do so.
What are the advantages of a pass?
With a subscription, you don’t have to buy a single-entry ticket every time. It pays for itself if you visit just three times a month. You’ll also get a discount on every order in our online shop for a whole year.
Who I can I bring along with a buddy pass?
Any person. It can be someone different each time.
Can I also plan an event at Uto?
