Disney Lorcana in a nutshell
How does the game work?
Each player starts with their own deck and draws a card at the beginning of their turn. Then, a card from their hand can be discarded as ink—ink is the resource you use to bring characters, items, and actions into play. Your characters then have two options: they can explore to earn lore points, or they can challenge opposing characters to force them out of the game.
A central strategic element is the six ink colors: Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Steel. Each color brings its own strengths—ranging from aggressive attack strategies to control and resource building. This diversity ensures that no two decks are alike and that every game opens up new tactical possibilities.
Draw a card & lay ink
At the start of your turn, draw a card. You may discard a card from your hand as ink—your resource for playing cards.
Explore & challenge
Your characters earn lore points by exploring or challenge enemy characters to a duel.
Earn 20 lore
The first player to earn 20 Lore points wins the game.

Sets
Lorcana isn’t a one-time product; it continues to grow. About every three months, Ravensburger releases a new set featuring fresh characters, new mechanics, and previously undiscovered Disney and Pixar worlds. These sets build on one another: New cards expand deck-building options, while new keywords and abilities add strategic depth to the game without changing the basic rules.
The variety of sets ensures that Lorcana stays vibrant. Longtime players can optimize their decks with the latest cards; newcomers often find it easy to get started with current sets, as many basic cards are regularly reprinted. At the same time, the variety of sets adds to the appeal of collecting: Some cards are rare, while others are time-limited and tied to a specific set—making every new release a mini-event for collectors and players alike.

Play Disney Lorcana
Lorcana is great to play at home with friends or family—but there are plenty of options outside your own living room, too. Local game stores regularly host “Locals”: casual game nights where you can meet new players and chat with them. If you prefer a more competitive experience, Ravensburger’s official Organized Play program offers tournaments in various formats—from community events to major championships.
As an official Organized Play organizer, we’re the perfect place to start. Whether you’re a collector, a newcomer, or a TCG veteran—at our Lorcana Play events, you’ll meet other Illumineers, trade cards, and play together. As a participant, you’ll earn league points for every game and other activities. Come to our game night in Dübendorf every Friday evening for casual league matches and earn prizes based on your league points.
